Mrs Mairead McCusker L.L.B L.L.M PGCHEP

Mairead prides herself on doing an excellent job for each of her clients. Her practice is client focused and in each case her aim is to use her skills and experience to find effective solutions and positive resolutions.

Mairead studied Law and Business Studies at the University of Ulster and graduated with First Class Honours in 2002. After graduating, Mairead completed her Solicitors training at the Institute of Professional Legal Studies, Queens University Belfast and qualified as a Solicitor in 2004. In 2008, Mairead was awarded a Masters Degree in Human Rights and Criminal Justice from Queens University Belfast and is currently in the final stages of completing a Phd Doctorate in Law. Upon completing her Doctorate, Mairead will become one of the most highly qualified Solicitors in Northern Ireland.

Mairead has considerable experience as a Solicitor gained from advising and representing a large number of private and business client’s in relation to a broad range of matters over the years including in relation to divorce and separation, children’s law, buying and selling property, personal injury claims, disputes, Will’s and probate. Mairead has represented clients before Courts at all levels of the Court system. She is accredited to the prestigious Law Society of Northern Ireland Children Order Panel and is a Law Society of Northern Ireland Solicitor Mentor.

In addition to her work as a Solicitor, Mairead is a Law Lecturer at Ulster University and has taught Law at Ulster University since 2004. Mairead was awarded the Post-Graduate Certificate in Higher Education Practice by the University of Ulster in 2012 and successfully completed her Advanced Diploma in Management Practice at Ulster University in 2014.  Mairead is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and has been appointed as an External University Examiner for Law. Mairead was nominated U.K Law Teacher of the Year in 2016 and has taught as a Visiting Lecturer at Florence University in Italy. In September 2018 Mairead was invited to present as part of an expert Panel Conference at Cambridge Law School. In April 2019 Mairead coached the Northern Ireland Team at the Brown Mosten International Client Counselling Competition in Dublin.

In her spare time Mairead is a keen musician and runner. She plays an active role in her local community and is a Governor of St. Patricks Bilateral Co-Educational College, Maghera.

James Burnside L.L.B 

James studied law at Bristol University from 1979-82, In 1984 he was admitted as Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Northern Ireland.

James Joined the practice firm in 1988. Since then he has gained considerable experience in relation to a broad range of practice areas to include Commercial and Residential Conveyancing, Personal Injury and Car Accident Claims and Wills and Administration of Estates.

In his free time James’s interests include sailing and cycling.
